Meet Eric: Passionate about Health Care since 1974
While I missed the announcement of the 50-year celebration I'd like to add my voice to those who speak in appreciation for the quality of the nursing program at BCC. My time there was challenging yet fulfilling and I graduated ('74) as well prepared as any RN from any school, without exception. My path in healthcare has evolved from Staff nursing in Rehabilitation to charge nursing to informatics to a dizzying array of responsibilities in the Maine healthcare informatics arena to now, semi-retired but serving as the Executive Director of the Healthcare Data and Analytics Association.
Yet I never strayed from the foundation. The patient and family and their successful health outcomes have been the cornerstone of my work and my thinking. So much of this came from my time at BCC, a place that focused my thinking, my knowledge and my direction during a lifetime of trying to help caregivers make evidenced based choices as they care for patients and families. I suspect there were times BCC wondered if this irreverent, pony-tailed student had what it took to be successful. Not to worry, it appears he did.
So, I tip my hat to the staff, faculty and students of the Nursing Program at BCC. Rest assured you have given me a gift I can never repay but an appreciation I will always carry.
